be动词八种变形形式were
一般过去时be动词 / 系动词were
搭配规则→were搭配复数主语使用：

1. 人称代词复数：
we【我们】，【you你 / 你们】，they【他们 / 她们 / 它们】

2. 名词复数：
指表示两个或两个以上的人或事物的名词【如teachers，students，books等】

They were teachers.【身份】
【他们曾是老师。】

We were tired.【状态】
【我们当时很累。】

you are my friends.
【你 / 你们是我的朋友。】
注：单复数同形，在前文一般现在时中are已详解。

They were young.【特征】
【他们那时候很年轻。】

一般过去时were 肯定句 / 否定句 / 疑问句
肯定陈述句：
We were friends.
【我们曾是朋友。】

否定句陈述：
We were not friends.
【我们过去不是朋友。】

一般疑问句：
were we friends？
【我们曾是朋友吗？】
