The annual long-distance running test
was scheduled on Friday afternoon.
I lacked endurance and had avoided
intense training all semester long.
Dark clouds rolled in while we lined up at the starting line.
A light drizzle soon turned into heavy rain soaking our uniforms.
Many classmates murmured about putting off
the test for another day.
The physical education （PE） teacher announced
the race would carry on as planned.
Panic mixed with weariness swept over me
