作者:D.H. Lawrence D.H.

选自D.H.

Love is never a simple union of two lonely hearts.

It is a profound collision of souls,

a constant test between desire and reason,

a struggle to keep individual integrity

while seeking deep connection with another.

Human beings long fiercely for intimate love.

We crave to be understood,

to be accepted wholly,

to merge our inner world

with the soul of the beloved.

We imagine love as a warm shelter,

a place where all loneliness fades away,

where two people walk side by side

through every season of life.

Yet love carries its own contradiction.

When two souls draw too close,

the independent self may gradually dissolve.

One person may lose his own thoughts,

abandon his original pursuit,

and sacrifice personal freedom

just to maintain the bond of love.

The passion at the beginning

may slowly turn into possession,

jealousy,

and endless demands on each other.

The women in the novel

do not regard love merely as romantic romance.

They keep clear self-awareness even in passion.

They refuse to lose themselves

inside a relationship.

They understand that true love

does not mean total blending of identities.

It should allow both sides

to remain separate,

complete,

and spiritually independent.

There must be a delicate balance.

Two people can share tenderness,

share dreams,

share the heavy moments of life,

but they should never erase

their own inner boundaries.

If love swallows the individual,

it will finally destroy the love itself.

If one only surrenders completely,

the passion will turn into weariness

and hidden resentment.

True intimacy requires courage.

It takes courage to open one’s heart,

and it also takes courage

to hold onto one’s own self.

It requires mutual respect,

honest communication,

and the wisdom to accept

that no two souls can be perfectly identical.

Love can elevate a person,

purify emotion,

and bring bright meaning to life.

But love can also trap the spirit,

distort human nature,

and create painful conflict

when the balance is broken.

The highest form of love

is not possession and fusion.

It is two independent souls

recognizing each other,

respecting each other,

standing firmly on their own ground,

yet choosing to walk together.

They love without abandoning themselves,

they connect without losing boundaries,

and they pursue spiritual union

while preserving the dignity of the individual.
