Many people spend their whole life judging others,
pointing out faults and expecting others to change.
They firmly believe criticism can correct mistakes
and force people to follow their ideas.
Yet criticism rarely brings the result we hope for.
It wounds one’s pride, arouses resistance,
and seldom makes a person willing to improve.
Criticism is like a sharp arrow.
It hits the heart, stirs up self-defense,
and makes people find excuses to protect themselves.
No one likes to be blamed openly.
Even gentle criticism often leaves hidden resentment,
rather than sincere reflection and change.
If we hope to influence someone,
blame is the last tool we should choose.
Praise, by contrast, works in a quiet but powerful way.
Sincere appreciation touches people’s inner need
to feel valued and respected.
Every ordinary person carries a hunger for importance.
When we notice others’ strengths and speak honestly,
they become more willing to listen, cooperate and progress.
Praise does not mean empty flattery.
Flattery is selfish, shallow and easy to see through.
True appreciation comes from our real observation
and genuine respect for others.
Another key truth lies in understanding.
Most people rush to express their own opinions first,
ignoring what others truly think and feel.
They care only about telling their stories,
not about listening patiently.
If we want to build good relationships,
we need to put aside our own judgment for a while.
Try to stand in other people’s shoes,
see the world through their eyes,
and learn why they hold such ideas.
We should never argue to win.
Winning an argument often means losing goodwill.
Even if we prove ourselves right,
the other person may still refuse to accept it.
Arguments harden opinions, while understanding softens them.
Smart people avoid useless quarrels.
They guide others to discover ideas by themselves,
instead of forcing conclusions upon them.
Everyone has weaknesses in human nature.
We are easily trapped by vanity, prejudice and self-interest.
These weaknesses create barriers between hearts.
This book does not aim to make us perfect.
It reminds us to recognize these hidden sides inside ourselves.
Once we see our own weaknesses clearly,
we become kinder, calmer and wiser when dealing with others.
Good communication is not about controlling others.
It is about awakening the best part in every person.
When we give respect, sincere praise and patient listening,
we create warm connections that last long.
Human relations are built not on clever tricks,
but on the ability to treat others the way we hope to be treated.
